La experiencia de la pandemia abrió mis sentidos y amplio mi mirada. Volver a caminar por la playa sin mascarilla y a paso lento me llevó a apreciar de manera especial la brisa del mar, la frescura del océano, la textura de la arena y ahí comenzó mi viaje de descubrimiento y amor por las conchas de mar
Chile es un país pequeño, en el extremo sur del mundo, un país largo y estrecho bañado por el océano pacífico. Los peces y los moluscos nos han alimentado por generaciones, son parte de nuestra identidad cultural, y si bien todos los años de mi vida he pasado temporadas en sus costas, nunca me había detenido a observar y menos a apreciar la belleza de las conchas de mar. En la actualidad éstas son las protagonistas de mi obra.
The pandemic experience opened my senses and broadened my gaze. Walking again by the beach without a face mask and at a slow pace led me to appreciate in a special way the sea breeze, the freshness of the ocean, the texture of the sand… And that’s where my journey of discovery and love for sea shells began.
Chile is a small country, in the extreme south of the world, a long and thin country bathed by the Pacific Ocean. Fish and molluscs have fed us for generations, they are part of our cultural identity, and although I have spent seasons on its shores all the years of my life, I had never stopped to observe, much less to appreciate the beauty of the sea shells. Currently, they are the protagonists of my work.
